A Message From The IDEA Committee

AFP St. Louis is a safe space for nonprofit fundraising professionals of all cultures and creeds who represent the colorful landscape of the St. Louis region. We stand with our partners across our community and AFP chapters all over the rest of the country in solidarity against discrimination and violence towards Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.

As fundraisers, it is important for us to lead the charge to make our organizations inclusive and antiracist. We stand as the bridge between funders and the frontline workers who are the agents of change within our communities, and we must be the model of inclusivity for all who we work with.  It is up to us as development leaders to ensure our boards and advisory councils include diverse populations, to make our events inviting and inclusive to all populations, to develop communications that are accessible, and too keep equity in mind in every aspect of our career, in order to work successfully with our donors as well as the population our organization serves.

As an AFP IDEA 2020 Champion, our chapter has proven our commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, and access through our work. AFP St. Louis reflects a diverse and inclusive community, evolving and enhancing our global influence and mission impact. This past year has brought so much change to our region and to our nation, and it is important for us, as a fundraising community, to stand in support of our colleagues, neighbors, friends and the vulnerable populations that we have dedicated our careers to. We must show the communities we serve that we are ready to fight discrimination and put in the work to make St. Louis a better place for everyone."
